This week, for my reading assigments i've had to finish reading " The Things They Carried" for My Reading Class. As for my other classes I mainly had to do research for both an essay and speech. Both of the essay requires a lot of research that demands you to do a lot of reading and analyzing. For my research for these two assignment I essentially found SQ3R to be very helpful. Since I had to reseach many different topics I found surveying to be very useful because I had to read a lot of differen't articles and current events to find information that I could use. Of course I had to read some of the article to be able to pull out information that I thought was useful to my research, but asking queastion seemed to help me the most because i had to keep in mind the topic of my research. I had to ask my self does this resource relevant to my topic does, or does it support the claim of my topic. I been doing a lot of research and I found using SQ3R to be beneficial because it helped to evalaute articles and draw important information from them. I suggest when you do any research try applying SQ3R to your research because it helps you to analyzes arguement at a much more effective level then just reading the reading the article.

I didn't konw what the word meant until i have look it up by the link above. from the article i was figure that the word have to do with come terms destiny or facing destiny.

the rendezvous with my store manager was about a promotion that he want to award me with.

From the article and prior knowledge i was able to conclude that the word meant to mix or stir but they werent talking about butter. From the atricle they used the word to describe depressing statistics about divorce.

All the butter that's finished and ready to be sold had to be churned during the processing stage.

From this Newsweek article i was able identify the word abandonment because it a words now toady that use often. the word abandonment, in the article, was accompanied with words like neglect, adultery, and even felony. Based on prior knowledge i knew that the to neglect and disown.

Many of the childern up for adoption felt the abandonment of their biological parents.

4/21-4/25 Reflection post

This week I have an tremendous amount of homework most of which require research for my english class and speech class. For my essay in my english critical thinking class i had to read several essay's and apply certain critical thinking modals to my essay that i'm currently writing. In the process I used highlighting which helped me to highlight main points and qoutes that were useful to my research. highlighting is also a form of outlining for me beacause i used different color to symbolize the importance of the imformation as i read. After i had finished reading i was able to go back and organize the information in an oultine. In any critical thinking class it is very crucial to make marginal notes as you read because most of the read require you to think and give your evaluated unstanding of what you just read and come up with your own conclusion/ analysis. SQ3R is very effective if your taking any type of critical thinking course or anything you read overall because you have to read and re-read, scan, pose questions, and challenge what the author is saying from an unbias viewpoint which help you to under the read on a different level.This is what my research paper requires and my responsiblity is to conduct an analysis of the killings in My Lai during the Vietnam war and look at the arguement on both side of the debate of why American soldiers were killing innocent villagers.
